Our History Of Stainless Steel

In the 1950’s Japan was witnessing a post-war industrial revolution. Several new manufacturing techniques and materials were being discovered and new products were being introduced to change the way people experienced life. During this time, Michio Sugasawara also began looking for new opportunities to expand the company’s product offerings. His father who was the original founder of Sugatsune always taught Michio to embrace inspiration and creativity in order to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Inspired by kitchen sink manufacturers and the automotive industry’s use of stainless steel, he began to study this material and its properties. Michio understood its ability to withstand corrosive elements but also reasoned that by using this durable material, waste would be eliminated as a result of the product’s longevity. As an added benefit, stainless steel can also be finished in a way that doesn’t require plating or other methods that pollute the environment.

From this point on, Sugatsune has specialized in developing hardware solutions using stainless steel which the marine and transportation industries have relied on for years. And being AS9120 B/ISO 9001 certified, Sugatsune’s reputation for quality provides confidence to those in aerospace as well as those developing medical, food and manufacturing equipment.
